'May 1882 edition of the Houston Journal stated, "the Byron Methodist Church has an excellent bell in it's tower". This bell is an important part of our church heritage. It has survived relocation to this site in 1922, a devistating fire in 1966 and several moves in the present church. It was Ira's wish that this excellent bell be given a permanent residing place.
The mounting of this bell is in loving rememberance of a devoted member of this church for 64 years. He was dedicated to all phases of service including Sunday School, Choir and Administrative Board. Ira joined the heavenly choir on 25 March 1989 at 83.
May this bell continue to toll for this church and in memory of Ira Goss and all saints.'
