Quincy is in Hickory County
Quincy is a small unincorporated community in northwestern Hickory County, Missouri, United States. It is located on Route 83 north of U.S. Route 54. A post office and a few homes are located there. The community was founded and probably named in 1848. Ramsay says it was probably named for U.S. President John Quincy Adams (1767-1848).
Founded 1848 Quincy was called Judy's Gap because of Samuel Judy's blacksmith shop that was located here. "Judy's Gap" was the first post office in Hickory County.
In 1858 to 1861 the Butterfield Stage stopped here. Just to the left of the Public Hall, across the gravel drive way and in front of the White House that stands there now, was a tavern, where the stage stopped for a meal and relay stop.
