A stone with E45 inscribed on one face. This stone is a few metres from the road, just over the fence. This stone might be a meer stone.

The stone is lichen covered. The tilt is probably due to soft ground subsidence.

A meer was a measure used in mining in 18 th century, about 30 yards, to describe the area leased to a miner. To help settle disputes the boundaries of each plot were marked with inscribed stones. Usually just initials and reference number. More info (visit link)
