Falling Spring was homesteaded in 1851 by the Thomas Brown family in Oregon County, Missouri. The Brown cabin, with its half-dovetailed log joints, has stood the test of time and remains in good condition. This site was settled before the Civil War. During the Civil War soldiers are believed to have camped in the area. The old log cabin which was the first home built on the site, is more than 100 years old. It was later used as a smoke house. The spring pond offers good fishing. A 650 foot trail leads along the edge of the lower pond. This day use facility is situated on the edge of a pond formed by a spring that falls from a rock wall. The area around the pond is open and grassy.
