The Tribune Block gets its name from the original occupant of the building, the Calgary Tribune newspaper. The building was constructed in 1892 and shows the classic styling of the sandstone architecture of early buildings in Calgary, Alberta.

From 1907 to 1919 it was a Hub Cigar store, Billiard Rooms and Traunweiser's bowling lanes.

A modern facade treatment was removed in the 1970's to once again show its Romanesque Revival window arches, carved cross details between the windows and the stepped parapet.
