A Dream and an Honor: Sun Coast Hospital Celebrates 50 Years

In 1957, Mr. Alan J. Snider, a 45-year old surgeon found a 14-bed nursing home in Largo, Fl., purchased it for $73,000, and converted it into an 18-bed acute care hospital within six weeks.
Today, Sun Coast Hospital is a full service, acute care hospital. The hospital has a solid foundation and a bright future – all thanks to the tenacity, vision and courage of Dr. Snider.
In Oct. 2006, Sun Coast opened a state-of-the-art emergency room. The 10,000 square foot emergency care facility cost $3.1 million and includes 20 private rooms.
In 2007, Sun Coast celebrated “50 years of Caring”. The fulfillment of Dr. Snider’s dream has made a difference in thousands of lives, and it has been OUR honor to know and serve with a man of such quality, intelligence and integrity.
Today, Sun Coast Hospital is proud to be part of the HCA family as a facility of Largo Medical Center.
