This leveling bolt is located along Ore Hwy 242, 10.5 miles SW of McKenzie Pass at small bridge which was rebuilt in 2008. The bolt is set in lava outcrop about 15 feet northeast of the southeast corner of the bridge.
The bolt was probably set by the USGS in about 1926. Bolts like this were generally used as temporary benchmarks at the time of the initial leveling survey. After the survey was completed, permanent benchmarks were frequently placed somewhere near the temporary points.
