The Methodist Church traces it roots in Oxford to the circuits in the early 1800's. In 1815, Oxford was one of the stops along the Caswell Circuit. The first Methodist Church building in Oxford was constructed in 1822 which was used until 1836. In 1836 a new church was built and used for 30 years and another church building was built in 1866. The church outgrew this building and the present church building was completed in 1902 and was dedicated three years later free of debt. The interior of the church was renovated extensively in 1929. Over the years the church has been well maintained and continues to serve the Methodist congregation in Oxford.
