The park was the gift of Mary Field Creutzborg to the town and was spearheaded by her son Dr. Alfred Hills, a NY doctor who donated his summer home ( now the historical society ) and the money to build a library, chapel ( where I got married ) and the town's high school.
The library is within view of the park and hence the name.
