This red brick building is the former Tioga County Jail, and the county sherrif's residence. in August of 1989 all the inmates were transferred to a new facility on Shumway Hill. If you walk around to the sides of the building you can still see bars on the windows. Also be sure to look at the elm tree in the yard. It has been dated to the mid 1700's, and is one of the oldest of it's kind. The building it currently the Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce, and also houses the Tioga County Visitors Bureau.
