A full moon rising over Camel's Hump, the most recognizable peak in the state, such that it is depicted on the 2001 Vermont Quarter, though from the east side (see gallery). The default picture here is from the west, taken from Texas Hill Road in Huntington.
The best known version of the song is by Margaret Whiting with Billy Butterfield's Orchestra, but it has also been recorded by Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, Acker Bilk, Charlie Byrd, Ray Charles, Rosemary Clooney, The Coasters, Nat "King" Cole, Sam Cooke, Tommy Dorsey, Billy Eckstine, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans, Percy Faith, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Dizzie Gillespie, Billie Holliday, Inez Jones, Frankie Laine, Johnny Mathis, Carmen McRae, Gerry Mulligan, Willie Nelson, 101 Strings, Oscar Peterson, Louis Prima, Tito Puente, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Sedaka, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Smith, Jo Stafford, Sonny Stitt, Mel Tormé, Bobby Troup, Sarah Vaughan, Junior Walker & The All Stars, Andy Williams and Bobby Womack.
And those are just the names I actually recognize from AllMusic.com and Wikipedia. The list of names I don't recognize is three times as long.
Musician: See above
Name of Song: Moonlight in Vermont
Relevant Verse: Written by John Blackburn & Karl Suessdorf
Pennies in a stream
Falling leaves, a sycamore
Moonlight in Vermont
Icy finger-waves
Ski trails on a mountainside
Snowlight in Vermont
Telegraph cables, they sing down the highway
And travel each bend in the road
People who meet in this romantic setting
Are so hypnotized by the lovely...
Ev'ning summer breeze
Warbling of a meadowlark
Moonlight in Vermont
Telegraph cables, how they sing down the highway
And they travel each bend in the road
People who meet in this romantic setting
Are so hypnotized by the lovely...
Ev'ning summer breeze
The warbling of a meadowlark
Moonlight in Vermont
