At Hangman (Latah) Creek, just a few miles south of Spokane, is an impressive set of backflood deposits. According to David Alt's "Glacial Lake Missoula," and "Channeled Scablands: Overview" web site by Steven Dutch, Natural and Applied Sciences, UW-Green Bay, each of the "terraces" in the bank consists of varved clay overlying sand and gravel deposits from the floods. There is at least 20 layers that range in thickness from three feet to as many as 17 feet. Also attesting to the glacial nature of the flooding are occasional dropstones (oversized, ice-rafted rocks). The dropstones stand out in sharp contrast to fine-grained sediments that surround the dropstones. Traveling north you can see a thick white line of Mount St. Helens ash in the bank.
