"The State Theater opened in 1928 with a seating capacity of 1,529, and was originally equipped with a Wurlitzer organ.

In the late 1970's, United Artists twinned the State. The theater was purchased by the City of Oroville in 1983. The dividing wall was removed in the 1980's, and films returned. Since then, performing arts have become the main program, with some films shown." (visit link)
