This huge sculpture was commissioned by the National Gallery of Art East Building in 1977 and sits adjacent to the entrance of the building. Moore is a British artist, known for his massive abstract bronze sculptures.

This beautifully sinuous, massive sculpture was commissioned by the National Gallery of Art East Building in 1977 and sits adjacent to the entrance of the building. It is typical of the more purely abstract nature of Henry Moore's later work.
If you are interested in Moore, be sure to see the his sculptures on display inside the East Gallery and also his sculptures shown at the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden on the mall, such as "Draped Reclining Figure" and "Three Piece Figure No. 2: Bridge Prop" or, one of my favorites, "King and Queen".
