USDI-GS TT 38 DRD is a US Department of Interior - Geological Survey bench mark disk that is mounted in the top of the north end of the west abutment of the bridge that carries Old Keene Mill Road (County Highway 644) over Pohick Creek. The station is about 20 feet north-northwest of the centerline of the westbound lanes of Old Keene Mill Road, about four feet north-northwest of the centerline of the sidewalk along the north side of the bridge, about two feet north-northwest of the west end of the round handrail along the north side of the bridge, in the center of the one-foot square flat portion of the abutment wall, about level with the sidewalk and about one foot above the level of the roadway. The disk is stamped TT 38 DRD 1960 RESET 1972. To reach from the Old Keene Mill Road/County Road 644 exit from Interstate Highway 95 in Springfield, VA, go westerly on Old Keene Mill Road for about 3.6 miles to Hillside Road on the right. Turn right and go northwest on Hillside Road until finding the first available place to park. After parking, walk southeast back to Old Keene Mill Road. From the northwest angle of the intersection of Hillside and Old Keene Mill, walk southwest on the north shoulder of Old Keene Mill Road for about 0.12 miles to the bridge and the station in the top of the abutment wall at the northwest corner. CAUTION: Old Keene Mill Road often carries very heavy and fast traffic. First found 03/19/2003, last visited 11/28/05.
