This railroad bridge was abandoned by CSX in the mid-1980s. It is approximately one mile west of the old Athens train station. This section of railroad used to connect Parkersburg West Virginia with Cincinnati Ohio and beyond.

The bridge spans the Hocking River, near the old dam at White's Mill at a location once known as Grosvenor. It crosses the Hocking just north of the confluence with Margaret's Creek.

This bridge seems to be in excellent physical condition and is intact except that the rails have been removed. The bridge is easily crossed by foot as the ties are all present and in very good shape. I cross this bridge regularly when I walk to work in Athens.
