Michael Milligan is the Fire Chief and is a badge-carrying member of the volunteer fire department. He is able to drive and operate both trucks, the 1941 antique firetruck known as "Gertrude", and another 30-year old truck. The fire department is fully self-funded. Volunteers have to provide their own equipment, gear, etc.
