This structure was built in 1883 and is the original City Hall for the town of Crested Butte. The Town was incorporated in 1880 and is designated a National Historic District. The structure is listed on the Historic American Buildings Survey. It is not, however, on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Part of the reason is that once a building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, many codes have to be met to keep the building in as close to its original state as possible. These codes can prohibit many types of architectural modification, etc. The building currently hosts an art gallery.
Group or Groups Responsible for Placement: U.S. National Parks Department
