The water tower of the Village of Gobles Michigan. Gobles is located in northeastern Van Buren County at the Junction of Van Buren Ave. and M-40. This is a small, agricultural community with its own village form of government and school system. It is situated on the Kal-Haven Trail, a paved pathway stretching from Kalamazoo to South Haven, part of Michigan’s Rails-to-Trails State Park system.

Gobles was first settled by John Goble in 1864, when he built a hotel here and platted the area, naming it Gobleville. This helped stabilize and develop the community, to where it eventually received a post office in 1872. It was incorporated as a village in 1893. It was renamed Gobles in 1922, and eventually reorganized as a city in 1957.
