This benchmark is located about 1.55 miles south of Lava Cast Forest Road along the old 1926 alignment of Hwy 97 about 30 feet southeast of the old centerline. The cap was set in square concrete post by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1931 and was stamped W62, 4266.730 feet.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1934 13.5 MI N FROM LAPINE. 13.5 MILES NORTH ALONG THE DALLES - CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY FROM LAPINE, DESCHUTES COUNTY, AT MILEAGE 158.2, AT THE SUMMIT OF A SMALL HILL, 90 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST END OF A SLIGHT CUT, 27 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE HIGHWAY CENTERLINE, IN TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 12 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. A STANDARD DISK STAMPED 4266.730 W62 1931.
