With 80 acres of pastures and corrals, Litchfield serves as the Regional preparation center for horses and burros gathered from public lands in northern California and northwestern Nevada. The Litchfield Corrals operate under the US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, Eaglelake Field Office.
Driving from Reno to LaPine, I spotted these corrals and immediately made a U-turn to investigate. I was fortunate to arrive just as they were receiving and innoculating, tagging and branding a new shipment of adoptees.
