Doach wood is owned by the Forestry Commission, and has two trails to reach this viewpoint. Apart from the board, there are two benches and the view. The information is about the history of the landscape, particularly the smuggling and threats to the throne. Well worth reading. The word 'Doach' is a late 18 century Kirkcudbrightshire name for a salmon trap or weir. It is derived from the Gaelic dabhach, a vat or tub.
Free parking at N 054 053.995 W 003 052.908. Footwear with a grip would be ideal. The paths are a mixture of forest track and dry earth forest floor.
