This interesting assemblage of brick buildings was once the world's largest winery. Later it was taken over by the government and used for defense purposes. Currently there are plans afloat to turn it into a housing development, but with the recent mortgage disaster (2008) this may be on hold.
While it is a bit difficult to see the warehouse buildings from the roadway, the Amtrak train ride from Richmond to Martinez (and then on to Sacramento) provides great views of the place. It is accessible from the last exit before the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. For more information on the history of this place, see the Winehaven Wikipedia page
Note: There are at least 3 geocaches located up this seldom-traveled road, although one is a puzzle cache!
