South Tawton is a pretty village pleasantly situated on the banks of the small River Taw four miles from Okehampton. St Andrews Church contains many plaques and memorials to local people inside including the Oxenham family who held a large estate nearby during the 18thC.
Look out for the coffin stone and the granite stile at the church entrance. Parish Registers go back to 1541.
