The Grissom Memorial honors Hoosier astronaut Virgil "Gus" Grissom, one of the seven Mercury astronauts and America's second man in space. The memorial has memorabilia about Virgil Grissom, along with the original Gemini 3 spacecraft, "The Molly Brown." It also has the spacesuit worn by Gus during the mission. The memorial has a 15 minute video of the life of Mitchell's most famous son. Although the memorial is in Spring Mill State Park which charges a fee to enter, visitors can tell the rangers that they are just visiting the memorial and they are allowed to go in free.
There is also a limestone rocket monument dedicated to Grissom in his hometown of Mitchel, about a 10 minute drive. (Only 2 miles as the crow flies).
I also highly recommend visiting the mill and historic village in the state park. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
