From the Claxton Enterprise web site:
"Located in the center of Claxton, next to West Main St., the courthouse is one of the most beautiful architectural designs for county government operations in Southeast Georgia.

Constructed during 1922-23, J.J. Baldwin was the architect for the project and it was built by West Point Iron Works at a cost of $60,000 to the citizens of Evans County.

The structure has undergone several facelifts and additions over the years, including extensive renovation in the courtroom and offices of county officials."
