Confederate Gen. D.H. Hill crossed at Point of Rocks and Breached and Drained sections of the Canal while burning Canal boats and destroying houses. When they got here they did not have enough gunpoweder to damage the Aqueduct here. A week later Gen. John Walker's Division spent time attempting to destroy it but were unable to do so. Marker has more details.
