All of the cruise ships traveling the Svir river stop at Mandrogi, a tourist attraction village started by private entrepreneurs in 1996 at the site of a village destroyed in World War II. The buildings here house Russian craft workshops and retail shops. Some old buildings have been moved to the site and new ones are built and decorated in the traditional northern Russian style.

This large wooden windmill is a prominent feature of the village. It is a recently constructed replica of the type of windmill placed on hilltops and used for grinding grain in areas where water mills were not feasible. The walls and base are made with interlocked pine logs and birch is used for the blades.
