The Maple Heights Police Department is staffed with 40 sworn full time Police Officers. Operating six car shifts the department has a seven officer Detective Bureau.

The Departments Fleet consists of 2 Jail Vans, 15 Patrol Cars 2 Covert Traffic Cars and 8 unmarked cars.

3 Road Sargeants
3 Road Corporals

The City also has a 25 officer sworn and paid Auxiliary Police force to handle situations such as traffic control and Park Patrols. The Auxiliary has a complete rank structure and operates a six bicycle patrol unit and an award winning Honor Guard.

The Department supports a dispatch center with a staff of seven full-time and eight part-time employees, which service both the Police and Fire Departments. The dispatch center is equipped with the most up-to-date equipment available to include the enhanced 9-1-1 system, TDD machine and high band radio frequency.

The Jail Administrator oversees Corrections Officers who staff the Detention Center and City Jail. The Police Department supports several specialized units to include a fully equipped SWAT Team, Bomb Unit, Hostage Negotiations Unit, Narcotic Unit, Emergency Command Post Team, and a part-time Animal Warden. The Department sponsors a DARE Program for all 6 th Grade classes at the local schools.

The award winning Department has received five Governor’s Awards, a Silver Star Award from the Ohio Victims of Crimes Program, an award from the Services for Independent Living for Outstanding Handicapped Safety Town Education and the United States Department of Transportation Award, presented by the President of the United States, for efforts in the Prevention of Impaired Driving. The Maple Heights Police Department SEALE Narcotics Unit received the “Ohio Distinguished Law Enforcement Group Achievement Award” from the State of Ohio Attorney General in 2006.

The Maple Heights Police Department has free firearm safety kits, which include a gun lock, available to local residents through a partnership with Project ChildSafe, the nationwide firearm safety education program.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
