Incorporated on December 26, 1890, Ashburn has a population of about 4,500. It is the county seat of Turner County, Georgia. The city was named for the early settler W. W. Ashburn, who purchased a portion of the future town site for ten dollars. The city's original name was Troupville Crossroads. Ashburn is noted for its peanuts and a Fire Ant festival.
