The bridge has a double arch construction and the railway has 4 tracks, 2 in each direction. Nearby is the Bromham Nature Reserve and further on the bridge over the Bedford Bypass, Paula Radcliffe Way. The land around here regularly floods as the River Great Ouse breaks its banks.
