Downtown shopping district has a variety of quaint Victorian Era buildings in very good condition. Many antiques and specialty shops. Lots of historic sites. Even an Odd Fellow lodge, which is worth the trip alone.

Founded in 1784 and named in honor of George Washington, the area is steeped in history. In the midst of the Blue Grass area of Central Kentucky, with many horse farms nearby. Reputed to be the birthplace of bourbon whiskey. There is a large Toyota manufacturing plant nearby that offers factory tours. County seat for Scott County. Nearby buffalo trails were used by early settlers.
