This is a simple stone clapper bridge.
My research has shown that stone clapper bridges in the Lake district were constructed from 1400 to the early 19th.century,and because of their simplicity are hard to date, they are normally placed across the banking of rivers and becks and held in place by their own weight,as is this one spanning HillMill beck, which consists of 2 Lime stone flat slabs side by side and about 10 feet in length.
Physical Location (city, county, etc.): half a mile West of Cartmel village Cumbria England.
Road, Highway, Street, etc.: Footpath near to Cartmel Village.
Water or other terrain spanned: HillMill Beck.
Architect/Builder: Unknown
Construction Date: Unknown
