In the spring of 1921, the people of the community of Pinson (then called Mount Pinson and before the Civil War, Hagoods Crossroads) met at the Baptist Church to discuss the school situation. The children needed a better school, but Jefferson County lacked the funds to help build one, so the people collected donations to buy the land and built the school themselves. The six-room schoolhouse was constructed during 1921 and 1922 and was occupied by the children in September 1922.
The school closed in the 1980's when a new area school was built and stood vacant for several years until it was purchased to be used as a church building.
