O'Shaughnessy Dam and Bridge - Shawnee Hills, Ohio - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

This was a fun one to Waymark. Most of the NRHP locations I've Waymarked have been houses or commercial structures. This is the first dam that I've personally come across on the NRHP.

The O'Shaughnessy Dam was built in 1925 at the prompting of then Superintendent Jerry O'Shaughnessy. This dam creates the O'Shaughnessy Reservoir which provides a source of drinking water for Columbus, and an area for various recreation. The dam also provides a bridge for vehicular and foot traffic along Glick Road. In 1987 hydroelectric turbines were added, but they can only run when the flow of water is sufficient. When they are running the pair produces 5 megawatts of power. The dam was added to the register in 1990.

A NRHP plaque can be found among other plaques and informational signs. These are located in a sheltered area on the northeast side of the dam.
