ELIJAH LOCKE HOUSE - RYE, NEW HAMPSHIRE
On December 14 and 15, 1774, four months before the bloodshed at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, patriots in New Hampshire faced gunfire to storm and seize the only active British provincial fort in the colony. Elijah Locke was impressed into service for this battle, and his son apparently served in the Continental Army.
