This is one of three cancelation stations along the Buffalo National River. Buffalo Point is the eastern end of the protected part of the river and is furthest downstream take-out within the park.

There are several hiking trails nearby including one segment of the Buffalo River Trail, a trail that when complete will allow hikers to follow the same route often currently traveled by canoists 135 miles from Ponca to Slymore.
