This abstract sculpture, made of Cor-Ten Steel, in front of Taylor Hall on the campus of Kent State University was in the path of bullets fired by National Guardsmen at students on May 4, 1970. Four students died.

There has been controversy over the bullet hole(marked by a peace symbol after the shootings)in the sculpture (which had already been placed on campus before the shootings), but now serves as a memorial that made some people believe it indicated, based on its angle in relation to the murdered students, that the bullet was fired by a sniper and not by one of the National Guardsmen.
