This bridge was built in the 1920s for vehicular traffic. It was not wide enough and it did not meet newer safety load regulations. A new up to date bridge was built next to the historic bridge and the historic one is now only used for pedestrian traffic. The historic bridge is on the ASCE list of engineering landmarks.
California Condors are known to nest underneath the bridge. I was lucky enough to see one while I was there.
