USGS 1055 - 1900, Berkshire, NY - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This disk is not listed in the NGS on-line database. I noticed it on the Richford quadrangle and decided to look for it. The mark is located in the First Methodist Church near the intersection of NY State Highway 38 and Depot Road in Berkshire, NY. The church was built in 1889. The mark is set vertically in the foundation facing East. The mark is located midway up the stone portion of the foundation just North of the second of two windows in the foudation. The mark is located approximately 16 inches above ground level. The mark is stamped ALBANY 1900. The elevation stamped on the disk is 1055 feet, but the topographic map lists it as 1056 feet.
