The Samaria Baptist Church north of Paragon Indiana was originally founded in 1829. The current sanctuary was built in 1860.

The church was originally formed by 9 members of the Little Mount Church from northen Owen County in 1829. Initially meetings were held in member homes. The first log church and school were built in 1835.
The current structure was built in 1860 and has been expanded over the years. It was one of the first frame buildings in the area and was assembled with local lumber.
The adjoining cemetery has several older graves, including that of James Farr, a veteran of the War of 1812.
