The plaque in a rock says:

"Benjamin Nye House

"Built by Benjamin Nye, miller and farmer, and one of the first fifty men to settle Sandwich, the house was built during the 1670s and was occupied by Benjamin's descendants until 1910. The house and 32 acres were then purchased by Nebraska businessman Ray Nye, who gave the property to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1923 for wildife conservation purposes. In 1959 the house was deeded to the Nye Family of America Assn. Inc."

This plaque is in front of the house that now is a museum, which is along Old County Road, off Route 6A.
