Plans for an aircraft-beacon type light were drawn in 1962. The Fresnel lens was removed to make room for this apparatus which consists of two powerful lamps rotating on an axis. One lamp projects a brillant white light, the other a red light. Respectively, each can be seen for twenty-nine and twenty-two miles.
The Eagle Harbor Light Station ws automated in April of 1980. Under this system several lights can be monitored by the Coast Guard Station.
