We were taking a road trip with friends, traveling north on Sandlake Road on the Oregon Coast when I had to blink my eyes in disbelief. A date with Miss Piggy? Not everyone can; but,a Peli-can!

The Oregon Coast is a very scenic area and we were driving north on Sandlake Road on our way to Cape Meares, when I spotted more scenery than I barganed for. Did I really see a Pelican alongside Miss Piggy watching all the cars go by? Was I halucinating? Well, not exactly, more like seeing two mailboxes artfully constructed to look like a Pelican and a Pig. Not only was there one funny mailbox, but two, and they were two different house mailboxes side by side. What a pair!

We had just crossed Reneke Creek on Sandlake Road. I wonder how many people zoom by looking at the beautiful Pacific Ocean scenery and never see these two unusual mailboxes. ---or see them in a flash and never stop. Well, if you would like to take "a gander,"---or should I say " a pelican," and then you can also pig out on the surroundng coast scenery later as well. Be careful where you park though; since, this is not a side street or typical residential area. You don't want to end up a statistic. The cars are few but do go whizing by and some of these drivers are distracted tourists. No one will believe you met your demise stopping to see a Pelican and a Pig,let alone two mailboxes. A better choice is to park safely well off the road and watch the flow of traffic carefully before taking pictures.

I have one request. I regret not taking a photo of Mr Pelican and Miss Piggy together rather than separately. In order to do that you may have to take your shot from the opposite side of the road. Please be careful. ---- oh yes, one thing more. How far did you come to see our couple? --- or just mention your home city. I thank you and so do our romantic couple who like to play Post Office by the way. Wouldn't you know! :))

P.S. Miss Piggy is touchy about just one thing; she does not like to be called a malebox; so, would you try and explain it to her; she wouldn't listen to me. I think she has been put on a pedastal all her life.
