The Holy Family Log Church was established in 1699 by Catholic missionaries from the seminary of Quebec. The church was dedicated in 1799 as a church of the Diocese of Baltimore, which comprised all territory within the original limits of the U.S. The Holy Family Log Church is the oldest church west of the Allegheny Mountains.
