Zanesfield, Ohio sits in the rolling farmland of west central Ohio. Zanesfield is name for Issac Zane, who was captured by the Wyandot Indians in 1762 and brought to this area. He befriended the Native Americans and married the daughter of Chief Tarhee. He was the first settler in the Mad River Valley.
Zanesfield is also near the site of the home of Simon Kenton from 1818-1828, who was also a famous frontiersman.
As of the 2000 census Zanesfield had a population of 220 people, making it the smallest incorporated village in Logan County.
