The Old Allegany Courthouse was built in 1819 and used for that purpose until 1892 when the county seat was transferred to Belmont, NY. Since then, it has been used for school rooms, a church, gymnasium, and polling place. During and after World War I, it was used for an armory. At present, it is used as the town offices by the Town of Angelica, and also by the Boy Scouts.
