Layser cave is a significant archeological site discovered in 1982 by Tim Layser, a forest service employee. It was used by Native American Indians more then 7,000 years ago.
Located in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, the cave entrance is a short walk from the parking area. The cave itself is 60 x 40 feet and is marked by several interpretive signs. Kids (and adults) will enjoy having a flashlight along to explore the cave (The entrance to the cave is not as small as it appears in the picture).
Driving directions: Take highway 131 south from Randle, WA to Cispus road (Forest Service road 2300) and then follow the signs to the cave.
