Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

Irish settlers in southeast Iowa erected this large brick and sandstone Catholic church in 1860 replacing an earlier log cabin. The settlement known as Georgetown no longer exists as a town but the church still stands on a hill top by Highway 34 between Albia and Chariton and it is regularly used for services. It has been called "The Cathedral of the Prairie".
