The Christiansburg Presbyterian Church was founded in 1827 by a group of early pioneers who chose to settle in the Valley of the New River. By the early 1850's the congregation realized that they would need a larger church to to handle the growing membership. The current church building located in downtown Christiansburg was erected in 1853 and has been in constant use ever since. The Christiansburg Presbyterian Church was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
